International Women’s Day – National Advisory Council on Women and Girls

Stewart Milne Homes on behalf of The First Minister’s National Advisory Council and East Lothian Council recently contacted our office advising us that as part of the celebrations for International Women’s Day (8 March 2020) and more specifically Women’s History Month, The First Minister’s National Advisory Council on Women and Girls (NACWG) had identified several statues celebrating important and pioneering women throughout the country.

Their plan was to work in partnership with local authorities to target as many of the female statues across Scotland as practically possible and adorn them with a specially customised #GenerationEqual (the NACWG’s dedicated hashtag) sash.

NACWG travelled across the country to adorn the statues themselves and we were delighted that they chose the Andy Scott sculpture at our own customers development in Prestonspans, as one to be included.

The sashes were placed in situ on the morning of Friday 6th March 2020, and remained visible throughout the weekend of International Women’s Day (Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th March 2020).
