Managing Escape of Water in your home

The main cause of damage within our customers’ properties and the main source of claims on our customers’ buildings insurance is Escape of Water, which generally refers to a leak from a pipe, bathroom and kitchen fittings or from heating and drainage systems.

Suffering an escape of water into your home, or from your home into a neighbouring property, can be a disruptive, distressing and expensive experience. Often there are some straightforward checks and measures you can take to reduce the risk of this occurring, such as regularly checking the seals around sinks and baths/showers, making sure white goods are properly plumbed in by professionals and insulating pipes which might be liable to frost or freezing.

Small steps like these might help save you and your neighbours a lot of hassle and cost, both in the short term and in the longer term, by minimizing insurance claims.
