This month, we continue our charitable giving initiative with a £500 donation to a local charity, the Doing it for Daniel Foundation.
The charity was formed in July 2021 in memory of Daniel Caplan, who very sadly passed away 7 months after being diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour, aged just 16. Daniel was a very brave and kind boy, and he planned to raise money for other children dealing with cancer once he recovered.
Brain tumours kill more people under 40 than any other cancer, but only 1% of the national cancer spend is on brain cancer research. Unfortunately, Daniel passed away before he had a chance to start his fundraising. His family formed the Doing it for Daniel Foundation in his name, which provides financial assistance for young people with a cancer diagnosis by funding special gifts, experiences, and holidays. The foundation also raises money for brain tumour research and supports parents dealing with a brain tumour diagnosis in their child.
Since its formation last year, the foundation has already carried out numerous fundraising events, from golf days to coffee mornings to walking and sporting challenges. It has a programme in place for partnerships with schools and businesses and a Young Person Ambassador scheme.

“Doing it for Daniel Foundation is extremely grateful to Hacking & Paterson for their generous donation.
We are a Scottish charity, and we provide special gifts, experiences, and holidays for young people up to age 21 diagnosed with cancer. We also fund research into DIPG brain cancer, the most deadly of all childhood cancers.
This donation will help us continue our work, and we are so thankful to your company and employees.”
