A team of HPMS employees got into the festive spirit early this year when they joined Ronald McDonald House’s Christmas Giftwrapping charity initiative at Braehead Shopping Centre.
Over the course of last week, 20 members of staff from both the Glasgow and Edinburgh offices spent a few hours each helping out at the stall, wrapping presents dropped off by busy shoppers, collecting donations from generous passers-by and sharing good cheer whilst raising the profile of the charity with the community.
Ronald McDonald House, Glasgow, has been welcoming families since 1996. Over 11,000 families have stayed at the house during this time, which provides a free of charge, safe base next to the children’s hospital, allowing parents to remain close to their sick child. The facilities at the house include 31 private en-suite bedrooms, laundry facilities, a library, spacious gardens and a large kitchen/dining area that has an interactive soft play for small children. The charity is proud to provide this homely environment and safe haven for families to rest in, away from the stresses of the hospital.
Speaking of the charity event, Sophie Coyle, Community and Events Fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House, said:
“Thank you so much for your incredible volunteering efforts at Braehead Shopping Centre last week at our Christmas Wrapping Station. We got there together as a team, and it definitely goes without saying it was a success thanks to the commitment, enthusiasm and hands-on support from all of you wonderful volunteers.”
All our staff who participated found it to be a worthwhile – not to mention great fun – experience and enjoyed the interactions with members of the public, many of whom stopped to share stories of how the charity has benefitted their families over the years.
We were thrilled to learn that the initiative netted an incredible £3,142.93 during the week of fundraising and our HPMS “elves” are delighted to have had the opportunity to play our part in this successful event.
