Scottish Association for Mental Health

As you will note from our previous articles, as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting local and national charities, Hacking and Paterson’s Corporate Social Responsibility Programme includes a Charitable Giving Initiative for 2021. The company has committed to donating £500 each month to a different charity and we invited all our employees to nominate the charities, close to their hearts, they would like to donate to in 2021.

We are delighted to advise that the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) was our March nomination and received a donation of £500.

SAMH has been around since 1923 and is Scotland’s national mental health charity.  Today, in over 60 communities they work with adults and young people providing mental health social care support, services in primary care, schools and further education, among others.  These services together with their national programme work in See Me, respect me, suicide prevention and active living; inform their policy and campaign work to influence positive social change.

Emma Gray, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser at SAMH said:

“Your support is helping to improve the mental health and wellbeing of people all across Scotland and we can’t thank you enough. It is with huge gratitude that we have received your generous donation of £500.

Thanks to support from people like yourself, Rab is now in a good place. He was feeling like he was a bad father, a bad husband, and a bad employee. He had struggled to reach out to anyone and was showing his frustrations in unrecognisable ways. “This is when I saw the advert for the Changing Room at Easter Road. It felt safe. I hadn’t felt part of any sort of community for many years. What a difference it made. I was not alone. The Changing Room was responsible for giving me a life changing epiphany, ultimately saving my life.

The Changing Room is the reason my daughter still has her father… and now a damn good one!

Projects like The Changing Rooms simply wouldn’t happen without your incredible fundraising efforts. Your support is helping achieve real change for people’s mental health and we couldn’t be more grateful.”

We congratulate SAMH on the great work they do supporting people like Rab around Scotland.
