Single Building Assessment: Expression of Interest

move to hacking and paterson

As a follow up to our recent article (where we reported that the Scottish Government had accepted all recommendations published by the Ministerial Working Group on Mortgage Lending and Cladding (MWGMLC) on the 19 March 2021, which included introducing a new Single Building Assessment to assess the risk and required remediation for buildings where there may be concerns over safety), we felt it was important to once again highlight that the Scottish Government has invited certain groups of, and individual, homeowners to lodge expressions of interest in a Single Building Assessment of their property being undertaken. Those currently being invited are homeowners in possession of:

  • A Cladding Risk Assessment (CRA), or;
  • A Fire Risk Assessment (FRA), or;
  • An External Wall System (EWS)1 Form

Where you believe that your property falls into the existing Single Building Assessment criteria, where you, or your neighbours, have had such assessments carried out, we would recommend that you lodge an expression of interest directly with the Scottish Government.

You can register your interests by visiting:

https://www.gov.scot/publications/single-building-assessment-expression-of-interest-form/

The invitations for expressions of interest in the initial pilot scheme runs until 25 May 2021, and any homeowner wishing to put forward their property should lodge their interest before this date.

If you want to know more about this subject, we believe that the following websites are a great resource:

It is the Scottish Governments intention to invite further expressions of interest on behalf of buildings for which there is currently no CRA, FRA or completed EWS1 Form(s) in the near future, and at this time, we will, on behalf of all homeowners, provide a further update on how we intend to express an interest on their behalf.
