Scottish Government Consultation on Revisions to the Code of Conduct for Property Factors.

The Code of Conduct for Property Factors has been in operation since 2012 after being brought in under the Property Factors (Scotland) Act 2011. The Code established a statutory regime for factoring services being provided to homeowners and provides a standardised platform for Property Factors to operate from.

The 2011 Act requires that Scottish ministers must from ‘time to time’ prepare a draft code which should be published and then consulted upon with such bodies (as considered appropriate) and with the general public.

This consultation seeks respondents’ views on a revised Code of Conduct for Property Factors following consultation. Scottish ministers may amend the revised code and then lay a copy of the code before the Scottish Parliament for its consideration.

Our senior personnel are attending consultation events in both Glasgow and Edinburgh and we will also be providing a detailed formal response to the Scottish Government.

We would recommend that all homeowners get involved in the consultation process and let the Scottish Government hear your views before the consultation ends on 15th January 2018.
